Sayyid Asaad presides over Royal Cavalry racing event in Bidiyah

Bidiyah - Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Internatio­nal Relations and Cooperatio­n Affairs, and Personal Representa­tive of His Majesty the Sultan, on Tuesday patronised over the Royal Cavalry Annual Horse Race, in Bidiyah. The race was organised by the Royal Court Affairs, represente­d by the Royal Cavalry.

The race comprised five rounds for Purebred Arabian horses.

The fifth round was the most important one as the riders competed for the prestigiou­s His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said trophy.

In the first round (1,200m) ‘Saih al Nama’, the horse Idrak of Royal Cavalry, ridden by Ramla bint Khalil al Zadjali, came first.

In the second round (1,200m) ‘Saih al Yahmadi’, the filly RB Kinsman, owned by Sayyid Saud bin Harib al Said and ridden by Ahmed bin Ibrahim al Balushi, came first.

In the third round (1,600m) ‘Saih al Hasanat’, the horse Shabah, owned by Ahmed bin Abdullah al Marzouqi and ridden by Asaad bin Ali al Siyabi, won.

The fourth round (1,600m), ‘Saih al Ula’, was won by the horse Mouadjiz, owned by Al Bashair Staples and ridden by Harry Bentley.

The honour of winning the His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said trophy went to the horse Spaghetti, owned by Al Bashair Staples and ridden by Harry Bentley, over a distance of 1,600m.

In between the races, there were musical performanc­es, a performanc­e by the Royal Household Troops Band, an Al Baraa Dance and quadruple raked Al Ardha.

The race was attended by ministers, State Council and Majlis A’Shura members, sheikhs and dignitarie­s.
