New German Embassy wins for innovative design
Muscat - The 12th annual Middle East Architect Awards was held at the Waldorf Astoria the Palm, Dubai recently. The awards aimed to recognise the best projects and people in the Middle East’s architecture community.
The German Embassy in Muscat competed against some of the best projects across the region and was chosen by an expert panel of judges as a clear winner for its distinguished features and innovative design concepts brought to the country.
The state-of-the-art German Embassy has become the new landmark of the embassy district in Oman.
The main embassy building is carefully uplifted to only visually touch the ground at the access areas in order to create an allround floating effect.
This, together with the purposely aligned Chancellery building, form distinguished open spaces which include the forecourt of the Chancellery embracing a very urban character acting as an entry reception and drop off area, the palm tree yard between the Chancellery and Residence acting as the residency’s receptions plaza and the private garden created for recreation and more intimate events.
