New Ger­man Em­bassy wins for in­no­va­tive de­sign

Mus­cat - The 12th an­nual Mid­dle East Ar­chi­tect Awards was held at the Wal­dorf As­to­ria the Palm, Dubai re­cently. The awards aimed to recog­nise the best pro­jects and peo­ple in the Mid­dle East’s ar­chi­tec­ture com­mu­nity.

The Ger­man Em­bassy in Mus­cat com­peted against some of the best pro­jects across the re­gion and was cho­sen by an ex­pert panel of judges as a clear win­ner for its distin­guished fea­tures and in­no­va­tive de­sign con­cepts brought to the coun­try.

The state-of-the-art Ger­man Em­bassy has be­come the new land­mark of the em­bassy district in Oman.

The main em­bassy build­ing is care­fully up­lifted to only vis­ually touch the ground at the ac­cess ar­eas in order to cre­ate an all­round float­ing ef­fect.

This, to­gether with the pur­posely aligned Chan­cellery build­ing, form distin­guished open spa­ces which in­clude the fore­court of the Chan­cellery em­brac­ing a very ur­ban char­ac­ter act­ing as an en­try re­cep­tion and drop off area, the palm tree yard be­tween the Chan­cellery and Res­i­dence act­ing as the res­i­dency’s re­cep­tions plaza and the pri­vate gar­den cre­ated for re­cre­ation and more in­ti­mate events.
