Meet to com­bat ter­ror fi­nanc­ing held

Mel­bourne, Aus­tralia - Oman on Sun­day par­tic­i­pated in the min­is­te­rial con­fer­ence on ‘No Money for Ter­ror­ism’. The del­e­ga­tion was led by Dr Hamoud bin Amer al Wardi, Oman’s Con­sul Gen­eral in Aus­tralia.

Dur­ing the con­fer­ence, par­tic­i­pants agreed on the need for re­gional and in­ter­na­tional co­op­er­a­tion in com­bat­ing fi­nanc­ing of ter­ror­ism. They also agreed to tighten se­cu­rity mea­sures across sec­tors to com­bat the men­ace.

The con­fer­ence dis­cussed the evo­lu­tion of ter­ror­ist threats in the Pa­cific and In­dian Ocean re­gions, trends and meth­ods to com­bat fi­nanc­ing of ter­ror­ism.

The con­fer­ence was at­tended by over 65 del­e­gates, 23 min­is­ters and rep­re­sen­ta­tives of 15 in­ter­na­tional bod­ies, in­clud­ing the United Na­tions and the Fi­nan­cial Action Task Force on Money Laun­der­ing.
