Oman pharmaceutical forum to begin tomorrow
Muscat - The Oman Pharmaceutical Conference 2019 will be organised by the College of Pharmacy from December 3-4 at the college campus.
Themed, ‘Empowering Pharmacists in Healthcare and Medication Safety’, the conference will be inaugurated under the auspices of Dr Hilal Ali al Hinai, secretary general, The Research Council.
Dignitaries from the ministries of Health and Higher Education will attend the conference and the keynote address will be given by Dr Suresh Madhavan, dean and Professor, System College of Pharmacy, University of North Texas Health Science Centre.
He will be speaking on ‘Empowering Pharmacists for Innovative Roles in Healthcare and Medication Safety in Oman’.
Dr Mohammed Hamdan al Rubai’e, director general of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control, Ministry of Health, will chair the session.
The two-day event, accredited by the Oman Medical Specialty Board will be attended by more than 250 delegates including pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, students and other healthcare professionals from Oman and outside.
The conference will see a variety of events including plenary lectures, workshops, panel discussions, pharma exhibition and poster presentations highlighting research in the field of pharmacy. The lecture on medication safety culture in the Middle East will be delivered by Dr Thamer al Shammari, Medication Safety Research Chair, King Saud University, Saudi Arabia.
Husain al Ramimmy, director of Pharmacovigilance, DGPA &DC, MoH, Sara al Balushi, director, Pharmaceutical Care Department, directorate general of Medical Supplies, and Shireen Imambakhsh Alzadjali, paediatric haematology/oncology from Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, and many other renowned health professionals will be delivering the lectures.
Workshops on pharmacovigilance and medication safety culture will be conducted during the conference by MoH officials.
