Deccani wing of ISC organises annual cricket tournament
The Deccani wing of Indian Social Club (ISC) organised the third annual cricket tournament recently at Al Hail cricket ground in Muscat.
The event was held to celebrate Oman's 49th National Day. Six teams of Indian diaspora from Deccani community in Oman participated in the tournament which was won by Deccan Stars led by Irfan, Deccan Warriors was runner-up.
The other teams included Deccan Eleven, Deccan Chargers, Deccan Royals & Deccan Challengers. Batting first Warriors scored 75 in allotted eight overs which was easily chased by Stars without loss in 5.4 overs. The best batsman was Naeem and best bowler was Altaf. Aldin, a prominent Hyderabadi Omani was patron of the event and took an active part in all stages of the organisation of the tournament. Event sponsors included Teejan Furnishings, 4 Homes, HST Signs, Advance Advertising Digital Solutions, Bait al Khair, Saleem and Mushtaq. Chief guest Madhursinh Jesrani who is General Secretary Oman Cricket Association of spoke on national team’s qualification for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia in 2020. He elaborated on plans to develop the game of cricket further in the country.
The occasion wore a festive look as a large number of families including women and children were on the grounds from morning till evening with Mustafa Ali giving a running commentary through out the day.
