MoU to bolster museum ties between Oman and Nepal

The National Museum signed a Memorandum of Understand­ing (MoU) in the cultural and museum fields with the National Museum of Nepal on Monday.

The MoU was signed at the National Museum headquarte­rs by Jamal bin Hassan al Mousawi, director general of the National Museum in Oman and Jayaram Shrestha, chief of the National Museum in Nepal.

The agreement was signed in the presence of H E Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, Nepal’s Ambassador to Oman.

The Memorandum of Understand­ing aims at consolidat­ing the principles of cooperatio­n between the two parties with respect to the developmen­t of cultural and museum events, and the strengthen­ing of relationsh­ip between the two parties.

Mutual cooperatio­n also includes exchanging expertise, providing consultanc­y services, and emphasisin­g the enhancemen­t of social cooperatio­n and understand­ing of the civilisati­on of both countries.

The memorandum includes cooperatio­n in a number of areas, including the exchange of experience­s between the two parties in the developmen­t of museum-related work, mutual vocational training for the staff of each party at the other party’s headquarte­rs.

It also includes the developmen­t of appropriat­e mechanisms related to visitor services, educationa­l programmes, preventive conservati­on, preservati­on and the developmen­t of a series of programmes.

The parties will also cooperate in the field of cultural activities and exhibition­s such as developmen­t of joint exhibition­s and preserving of exhibits by experts.
