MoU to bolster museum ties between Oman and Nepal
The National Museum signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the cultural and museum fields with the National Museum of Nepal on Monday.
The MoU was signed at the National Museum headquarters by Jamal bin Hassan al Mousawi, director general of the National Museum in Oman and Jayaram Shrestha, chief of the National Museum in Nepal.
The agreement was signed in the presence of H E Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, Nepal’s Ambassador to Oman.
The Memorandum of Understanding aims at consolidating the principles of cooperation between the two parties with respect to the development of cultural and museum events, and the strengthening of relationship between the two parties.
Mutual cooperation also includes exchanging expertise, providing consultancy services, and emphasising the enhancement of social cooperation and understanding of the civilisation of both countries.
The memorandum includes cooperation in a number of areas, including the exchange of experiences between the two parties in the development of museum-related work, mutual vocational training for the staff of each party at the other party’s headquarters.
It also includes the development of appropriate mechanisms related to visitor services, educational programmes, preventive conservation, preservation and the development of a series of programmes.
The parties will also cooperate in the field of cultural activities and exhibitions such as development of joint exhibitions and preserving of exhibits by experts.
