WHO meeting on NCDs and mental health from today
The sultanate will host the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Meeting on Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) from December 9-12.
The official opening will be held on Tuesday, under the auspices of H H Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, at Madinat al Irfan Theatre, Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre.
This is the first Global Meeting on NCDs since the 2018 UN High-Level Declaration on Noncommunicable Diseases and the 2019 UN High-Level Declaration on Universal Health Care.
The conference will comprise exciting and interactive plenary and panel discussions, while numerous initiatives to prevent and control NCDs will be launched.
A Walk the Talk Event, organised by the WHO with the ministries of Sports and Health at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex will be held on Monday. The event will feature Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO director general, along with their excellencies, ministers and other high-level delegates.
