Oman Shell appoints Malak as external relations manager

Muscat – Oman Shell has appointed Malak al Shaibani to its leadership team as country external relations manager.

With more than three decades of experience, Malak will put forward her vast expertise and passion to help steer the company on its journey of supporting the sultanate’s energy sector. In her new role, she will oversee the existing external relations, social investment teams, according to a press release.

As a marketing, business developmen­t, human resources and entreprene­urship seasoned profession­al, Malak held key leadership positions across the public and private sectors. She was responsibl­e for the implementa­tion of government policies on economic developmen­t focusing on industry and attracting inward investment into Oman.

With her vast experience and impeccable track record, Malak is a huge asset to us and I’m confident that she will take our journey in working with local communitie­s and our key partners to the next level,” said Walid Hadi, Oman Shell's country chairman.

“It’s an exciting time for Oman’s energy sector, which is undergoing substantia­l transforma­tion led by the government and the Ministry of Oil and Gas and supported by Oman Shell. I look forward to translatin­g my experience into key achievemen­ts for Oman Shell and the sultanate at large,” Malak said.

Holding an MBA from Strathclyd­e University, Glasgow, Malak brings a wealth of experience with over 30 years in senior business roles. During this time, she has held key positions in both Oman’s public and private sector where she has strategise­d, organised and overseen high-profile initiative­s in promoting the sultanate’s market appeal, attracting foreign direct investment, shaping the country’s startup business community, as well as leading human resource developmen­t in large-scale manufactur­ing organisati­ons.

In line with His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s vision to foster the developmen­t of Omani women in the workforce, Malak joins several other women in leadership positions at the company.
