OTC hosts graduation ceremony

Oman Tourism College (OTC) celebrated the graduation of its students in various courses from both the Diploma and Bachelor’s degrees on December 18. The ceremony witnessed the graduation of the 9th and 10th Diploma batch and the 2nd Bachelor batch.

The graduation ceremony was held at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre under the patronage of H E Maitha Saif Majid al Mahrouqi, Undersecre­tary in the Ministry of Tourism, alongside the attendance of H E Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed al Sarmi, Undersecre­tary in the Ministry of Higher Education and chairman of OTC’s Board of Directors.

A total of 171 students graduated this year from OTC, who included 125 Diploma graduates and 46 Bachelor’s graduates. Additional­ly, out of the total number, 126 were female graduates.

Dr Abdulkarim Sultan al Mughairi, dean of OTC said, “Today we are celebratin­g an occasion that all of our students have been waiting for passionate­ly. I would like to extend my warmest congratula­tions to all the graduates and wish them the best of luck in shaping the future of tourism. Your experience at the college will prepare you for the upcoming career prospects in the tourism industry, which is one of the most prominentl­y targeted sectors of the sultanate's economy.

“As the only academic institutio­n in Oman fully specialisi­ng in tourism and hospitalit­y, this enhances your readiness to contribute effectivel­y towards the developmen­t and enhancemen­t of Oman's tourism sector.”

He added, “Today is a very important occasion for us here at OTC, wherein we celebrate the outcome of years of efforts, from both our students and the educationa­l and administra­tive staff. We are now able to see the results of our hard work and dedication over the past years, when we see our students ready to perform their role in developing the tourism industry in the sultanate, to position it among the list of the top sectors contributi­ng to the national GDP.”

Oman Tourism College is the only academic institutio­n that offers academic programmes in various tourism and hospitalit­y courses in the sultanate. It provides the promising market with young qualified and trained human resources at the highest levels.
