Oman deports 833 labour law violators

The Ministry of Manpower has deported 833 workers for violating provisions of the labour law. The arrests were made in Muscat governorat­e between December 1 and 28.

Of these, 644 were caught as part of the inspection campaigns from December 1 to 20 while 189 were arrested between December 21 and 28.

On December 26, a team of the ministry in cooperatio­n with the ROP, carried out an inspection campaign in different parts of the wilayat of Muscat such as Muscat, Sidab and Al Bustan and arrested 66 workers including seven women. On December 21, ministry officials, in cooperatio­n with Muscat Municipali­ty, carried out an inspection campaign in Al Khoudh, North Al Hail and Ma’abela in Seeb. They arrested 18 workers for selling vegetables, fruits and tobacco. On December 16, a joint team arrested 21 workers found selling mobile phones in the wilayat of Seeb.

On December 10, the ministry, represente­d by its joint inspection team, carried out an inspection campaign against violating workers in the Central Fruits and Vegetables Market in Mawaleh. They arrested 43 workers for violating the law.

On December 2, a ministry team again arrested 61 workers cleaning vehicles in public parking areas in the wilayats of Bausher and Muttrah.

On December 1, the ministry represente­d by its joint inspection team arrested 13 workers for cleaning vehicles illegally in public parking spaces in Al Khuwayr.
