OOC board okays par­tic­i­pa­tion in 16 sports in third GCC games in Kuwait

Muscat - The Board of Di­rec­tors of the Oman Olympic Com­mit­tee (OOC) has ap­proved the sul­tanate’s ‘ini­tial par­tic­i­pa­tion’ in at least 16 sports in the third GCC games to be held in Kuwait next April.

The fourth and the fi­nal meet­ing of the board in 2019 was held on Tues­day un­der the chair­man­ship of Sayyid Khalid bin Ha­mad al Bu­saidi, the OOC chair­man, a press com­mu­niqué said.

The ap­proved sport­ing events in which the sul­tanate will par­tic­i­pate are: Ath­let­ics, swim­ming, foot­ball, bas­ket­ball, vol­ley­ball, hand­ball, shoot­ing, karate, judo, ten­nis, bi­cy­cles, and swim­ming in open wa­ter, sail­ing, and beach foot­ball, and beach hand­ball, beach vol­ley­ball.

Sayyid Khalid kicked off the meet­ing by wel­com­ing the mem­bers, and ap­pre­ci­at­ing the ef­forts made by all dur­ing 2019 to de­velop Olympic Sports Sys­tem and ac­ti­vat­ing OOC pro­grammes and the help com­mit­tees. The fourth meet­ing of OOC Board of Di­rec­tors con­cluded with a re­view of a num­ber of reports sub­mit­ted by the Gen­eral Sec­re­tar­iat and dis­cus­sions on other top­ics that have been in­cluded in the item of new work.
