His Majesty the Sul­tan con­fers medals on se­nior ROP of­fi­cers

Nizwa - His Majesty Sul­tan Qa­boos bin Said, the Supreme Com­man­der, has con­ferred Royal Com­men­da­tion and Ex­cel­lent Ser­vice Medals on se­nior of­fi­cers of the Royal Oman

Po­lice (ROP). Sheikh al Fadhl bin Mo­hammed al Harthy, Sec­re­tary Gen­eral in the Coun­cil of Min­is­ters pinned the medals dur­ing a cer­e­mony held at the Sul­tan Qa­boos Academy for Po­lice

Sciences on the oc­ca­sion of the ROP Day on Sun­day.

The ROP Day is marked on Jan­uary 5 ev­ery year.

Sheikh Harthy con­grat­u­lated the of­fi­cers on this oc­ca­sion.

He said that this hon­our­ing stems from His Majesty the Sul­tan’s keen­ness to ap­pre­ci­ate the con­stant ef­forts of the ROP per­son­nel to work on the de­vel­op­ment of this dear home­land.

Sheikh Harthy also pinned com­pe­tency medals on se­nior ROP of­fi­cers. He also hon­oured long-ser­vice of­fi­cers.

Nizwa - The Royal Oman Po­lice (ROP) cel­e­brated its An­nual Day, which falls on Jan­uary 5 ev­ery year.

A cer­e­mony was held at the Mil­i­tary Pa­rade Field of the Sul­tan Qa­boos Academy for Po­lice Sciences (SQAPS) in Nizwa un­der the pa­tron­age of Sheikh al Fahdl bin Mo­hammed al Harthy, Sec­re­tary Gen­eral in the Coun­cil of Min­is­ters.

At the be­gin­ning of the cer­e­mony, ROP mu­sic band played the na­tional an­them. The com­man­der of the col­umn then re­quested per­mis­sion from the chief guest to in­spect the front col­umn of the pa­rade.

The chief guest then handed over awards to top grad­u­ates of the 45th batch of univer­sity of­fi­cers, 42nd batch of diploma of­fi­cers and the sixth batch of the lim­ited ser­vice.

The academy ban­ner was handed over from the 42nd batch of cadet of­fi­cers to the 43rd batch of cadet of­fi­cers. The grad­u­ates chanted the ROP an­them and pro­claimed thrice Long Live His Majesty Sul­tan Qa­boos bin Said, the Supreme Com­man­der of the Armed Forces. At the end of the cer­e­mony, the na­tional an­them was played, fol­lowed by the ROP horse­men march­ing.

Dur­ing the event, Al Wusta Po­lice Com­mand was an­nounced as the win­ner of ROP Award for Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion, which aims at rais­ing aware­ness on the im­por­tance of crim­i­nal in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

The Muscat Po­lice Com­mand was de­clared the win­ner of ROP Traf­fic Safety Com­pe­ti­tion (A Role Model of Com­pli­ance). The Sul­tan Qa­boos Academy for Po­lice Sciences was de­clared win­ner of the ROP com­pe­ti­tion for in­fantry.

Dur­ing the cer­e­mony, Sheikh Harthy launched the SQAPS web­site www.sqaps.edu.om to keep abreast of the rapid de­vel­op­ment wit­nessed by the ROP in var­i­ous po­lice fields.

Sheikh Harthy also launched the smart au­tho­ri­sa­tion card for ROP per­son­nel.

The cer­e­mony was at­tended by min­is­ters, ad­vi­sors, com­man­ders of the Sul­tan’s Armed Forces, ROP, mil­i­tary and se­cu­rity units, mem­bers of the State Coun­cil and Ma­jlis A’Shura, judges, sheikhs, lo­cal of­fi­cials, dig­ni­taries in the Gov­er­norate of Dakhliyah and par­ents of the grad­u­ates.
