His Majesty the Sultan confers medals on senior ROP officers
Nizwa - His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Supreme Commander, has conferred Royal Commendation and Excellent Service Medals on senior officers of the Royal Oman
Police (ROP). Sheikh al Fadhl bin Mohammed al Harthy, Secretary General in the Council of Ministers pinned the medals during a ceremony held at the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police
Sciences on the occasion of the ROP Day on Sunday.
The ROP Day is marked on January 5 every year.
Sheikh Harthy congratulated the officers on this occasion.
He said that this honouring stems from His Majesty the Sultan’s keenness to appreciate the constant efforts of the ROP personnel to work on the development of this dear homeland.
Sheikh Harthy also pinned competency medals on senior ROP officers. He also honoured long-service officers.
Nizwa - The Royal Oman Police (ROP) celebrated its Annual Day, which falls on January 5 every year.
A ceremony was held at the Military Parade Field of the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences (SQAPS) in Nizwa under the patronage of Sheikh al Fahdl bin Mohammed al Harthy, Secretary General in the Council of Ministers.
At the beginning of the ceremony, ROP music band played the national anthem. The commander of the column then requested permission from the chief guest to inspect the front column of the parade.
The chief guest then handed over awards to top graduates of the 45th batch of university officers, 42nd batch of diploma officers and the sixth batch of the limited service.
The academy banner was handed over from the 42nd batch of cadet officers to the 43rd batch of cadet officers. The graduates chanted the ROP anthem and proclaimed thrice Long Live His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. At the end of the ceremony, the national anthem was played, followed by the ROP horsemen marching.
During the event, Al Wusta Police Command was announced as the winner of ROP Award for Criminal Investigation, which aims at raising awareness on the importance of criminal investigation.
The Muscat Police Command was declared the winner of ROP Traffic Safety Competition (A Role Model of Compliance). The Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences was declared winner of the ROP competition for infantry.
During the ceremony, Sheikh Harthy launched the SQAPS website www.sqaps.edu.om to keep abreast of the rapid development witnessed by the ROP in various police fields.
Sheikh Harthy also launched the smart authorisation card for ROP personnel.
The ceremony was attended by ministers, advisors, commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces, ROP, military and security units, members of the State Council and Majlis A’Shura, judges, sheikhs, local officials, dignitaries in the Governorate of Dakhliyah and parents of the graduates.
