OTC, Vodafone Oman sign agreement
Salalah – Oman Towers Company (OTC) and Oman Future Telecommunications Company (Vodafone Oman) on Sunday signed the main agreement to use the infrastructure of inactive telecommunication towers. The agreement was signed under the patronage of H E
Eng Azza bint Sulaiman al Ismaili, Minister of Technology and Communications, at Al Baleed Resort in Salalah.
As per the agreement, OTC will provide telecommunication towers for Vodafone Oman’s global mobile networks, in parallel with plans to deploy the mobile network for Oman Future Telecommunications Company.
Vodafone Oman is expected to enter the local market during
the second half of 2020.
The agreement was signed by Sayyid Hamad bin Ahmed al Busaidi, OTC’s chairman and Majid bin Amer al Kharousi, chief executive officer of Oman Future Telecommunications Company.
The signing ceremony was attended by H E Mohammed bin Sultan al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar and Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen al Ghassani, head of Dhofar Municipality.
The new agreement between OTC and Vodafone Oman comes within the government’s framework to upgrade the growing telecom sector, which is one of the most important pillars of the national economy.
Vodafone Oman is expected to enter the local market during the second half of 2020
