OTC, Voda­fone Oman sign agree­ment

Salalah – Oman Tow­ers Com­pany (OTC) and Oman Fu­ture Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions Com­pany (Voda­fone Oman) on Sun­day signed the main agree­ment to use the in­fra­struc­ture of in­ac­tive telecom­mu­ni­ca­tion tow­ers. The agree­ment was signed un­der the pa­tron­age of H E

Eng Azza bint Su­laiman al Ismaili, Min­is­ter of Tech­nol­ogy and Com­mu­ni­ca­tions, at Al Baleed Re­sort in Salalah.

As per the agree­ment, OTC will pro­vide telecom­mu­ni­ca­tion tow­ers for Voda­fone Oman’s global mo­bile net­works, in par­al­lel with plans to de­ploy the mo­bile net­work for Oman Fu­ture Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions Com­pany.

Voda­fone Oman is ex­pected to en­ter the lo­cal mar­ket dur­ing

the sec­ond half of 2020.

The agree­ment was signed by Sayyid Ha­mad bin Ahmed al Bu­saidi, OTC’s chair­man and Ma­jid bin Amer al Kharousi, chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of Oman Fu­ture Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions Com­pany.

The sign­ing cer­e­mony was at­tended by H E Mo­hammed bin Sul­tan al Bu­saidi, Min­is­ter of State and Gov­er­nor of Dho­far and Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen al Ghas­sani, head of Dho­far Mu­nic­i­pal­ity.

The new agree­ment be­tween OTC and Voda­fone Oman comes within the gov­ern­ment’s frame­work to up­grade the grow­ing tele­com sec­tor, which is one of the most im­por­tant pil­lars of the na­tional econ­omy.
