First-ever open sports quiz in Oman
A first-ever Sports Quiz is planned for January 11 at Al Falaj Hotel, Ruwi.
It is ‘Open’ to all and those who are interested can participate in this quizzing. The event is organised with the support of many sports lovers and sports clubs, with the blessings of Ministry of Sports Affairs and the Embassy of India. The event will be presented by an event management company, Ibn al Hassani.
As per the organisers, over 600 participants including children and adults are likely to take part in the first-of-its-kind event.
H E Munu Mahawar, Ambassador of India, will be the chief guest while Khalifa Saif Rashid al Essai, director general of Ministry of Sports Affairs, will be the guest of honour, who will be giving away prizes to the winning teams.
As per the organisers, the entries are still coming in and due to the overwhelming interest shown by sports enthusiasts in the sultanate, submission of entry forms has been extended till January 9. Entry to the contest is open and free and anyone from any nationality, including Omanis are welcome.
The event will be conducted in two phases – Mega Prelims and the Finals in three different groups - Junior Group with children from the age of 10-13 years; Senior Group with children from the age of 13-18 years; and Adults Group of 18 years and above. The event will start at 10am on Saturday, January 11 with the preliminary round and will be completed by 1pm. After the lunch break, the quiz will resume at 4pm with those who qualified for the Finals round. Spectacular entertaining shows are planned to entertain the audience.
The quiz will be conducted by a well known quiz master – Snehaj Srinivas, who is the GCC and India director of International Quizzing Association (IQA).
