HM receives condolence cables from Tanzania, Ethiopia and Sri Lanka
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimour has received cables of condolences from Tanzania, Ethiopia and Sri Lanka on the death of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour.
On Sunday, His Majesty Sultan Haitham received a cable of condolences from President John Magufuli of Tanzania. The cable was received by Yousuf bin
Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs when he received in his office Prof Palamagamba Aidan Kabudi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation in Tanzania and the Envoy of the Tanzanian President.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham also received two cables from President Sahle-Work Zewde of Ethiopia and the Ethiopian Prime Minister on the death of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos.
The two cables were received by Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah when he received Mahmoud D, Advisor to the Foreign Minister and Special Envoy of the Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali.
The meetings were attended by Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), officials and the delegation accompanying the guest.
Sri Lanka’s special envoy visits Oman
State Minister Susil Premajayantha, Special Envoy of Sri Lanka accompanied by Member of Parliament, Faiszer Musthapha, visited Oman last week to deliver the condolence messages from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa addressed to His Majesty Sultan Haitham.
The envoy also carried the condolence message from the
Minister of Foreign Relations Dinesh Gunawardena addressed to his counterpart of Oman. The letters of condolence messages were handed over to Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah. Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Oman Ameer Ajwad was present on the occasion. Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs and Sheikh Hilal Marhoon Salem al Maamari, Chief of West Asia Department in MoFA attended the meeting.
