Giti’s all-girls team wins big at the 2019 Nürburgring VLN race final
Not only did Giti successfully debut the first ever all-female Nürburgring racing team earlier last year, but they also claimed top spot as well with their allgirls team in the VLN race final.
Led by Team Chief Ellen Lehmann, the team is the first allfemale squad to feature in Nürburgring’s long and illustrious history. Throughout the ninerace high-profile VLN series held at Nürburgring last year, the ‘Giti’s Angels’ drivers and crew were very competitive and came away with a spectacular performance during the last VLN weekend.
After a strong start during the qualifying rounds, the Sunday race started off a bit slow, but the Giti’s Angels team steadily advanced. Célia Martin got behind the wheel after eight laps and advanced to second place with an amazing performance.
Carrie Schreiner then took over the reins for the final lap with lightning speed, building up pressure on the leading car.
Corinna Schäfer, Race Engineer described the final lap saying, “We saw on the GPS that Carrie could do another lap, if she crossed the finish line in front of the overall leader.
That was pretty close. But we calculated that the fuel was enough and we also noticed that the leading car had some problems. That was our chance and we had to strike.”
