Oman, Czech Republic to boost trade ties
Muscat - Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), received on Sunday Eduard Muricky, deputy minister in-charge of industry, entrepreneurship and construction in the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and his accompanying delegation.
The OCCI chairman affirmed the keenness of Oman to develop and strengthen commercial and investment relations with various countries, stressing the importance of promoting more cooperation and partnership that will develop the business sector between Oman and the Czech Republic.
Omar bin Rashid al Shibli from the Department of Economic Studies and Research gave a presentation about trade volumes between Oman and the Czech Republic. He said that the value of Omani imports from the Czech Republic exceeded more than RO4.72mn in 2018.
Meetings were also held between the Omani and the Czech sides to review experiences and exchange trade expertise.
H E Eng Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry also met with Eduard Muricky and his accompanying delegation. The two sides discussed means of promoting cooperation in various trade and economic fields in the two countries. They also discussed the potential of benefiting from plastic products made in Oman and the potential of establishing auto spare parts factories for the Czech companies in Oman.
H E Dheeb explained to the guests the readiness of infrastructure in the sultanate, such as ports, airports, free and economic zones, which attract foreign investments. He also highlighted the new foreign investment law, as well as incentives and facilities offered to the foreign investor.
