MRMWR re­de­vel­op­ing fa­cil­i­ties at Nizwa Souq

To pro­vide bet­ter ser­vices to vis­i­tors and tourists, the Min­istry of Re­gional Mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties and Water Re­sources (MRMWR) has be­gun de­vel­op­ing Nizwa Souq in Dakhliyah gover­norate.

Speak­ing to Mus­cat Daily, an of­fi­cial from MRMWR said that the main­te­nance work of the souq in­cludes build­ing new toi­lets, re­plac­ing cen­tral air con­di­tion­ers, paving the sale area and cor­ri­dors. “Some of the other re­fur­bish­ment work will in­clude re­place­ment of light­ing poles.”

The work will also in­clude paint­ing the en­tire souq build­ing and set­ting up kiosks to sell grilled food items and juices, the of­fi­cial said. “The kiosks will be es­tab­lished keep­ing in mind the health and safety spec­i­fi­ca­tions stip­u­lated by the min­istry. In ad­di­tion the souq will also see in­stal­la­tion of ad­e­quate trash bins and re­fur­bish­ing the main gates.”

Re­de­vel­op­ing Ibri

MRMWR is also plan­ning to es­tab­lish more pub­lic fa­cil­i­ties in the wilayat of Ibri in Dhahi­rah gover­norate. “The min­istry will es­tab­lish a slaugh­ter­house and a chil­dren’s park in Ibri. For this, the min­istry has called for in­vest­ments. A num­ber en­ter­tain­ment ar­eas, cafés and a slaugh­ter­house will also be set up,” said the of­fi­cial, adding that five sites are be­ing of­fered for the pur­pose.

Guide­lines for the projects can be sought from the Direc­torate Gen­eral of Re­gional Mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties and Water Re­sources in Dhahi­rah.

The min­istry is also look­ing to set up a slaugh­ter­house on an area of 100,000sq m, a chil­dren’s park, a place to sell green fod­der and a café at Hamra al Droua Park.

The work will also in­clude paint­ing the en­tire souq and set­ting up food sell­ing kiosks
