10 from Oman attend Tatawwar workshop

Ten students from Oman attended the Tatawwar: Building Tomorrow’s Minds workshop at the National Youth Commission Centre on Saturday.

Under the programme, students (15-18 years) across Oman, the UAE, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Algeria were asked to give project ideas on three of United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals which are Climate Action, Human Health and Well-being and Clean Water and Sanitation.

More than 4,650 students from over 1,000 schools registered at the programme and out of them 250 were chosen where ten are from Oman. Tatawwar: Building Tomorrow’s Minds offers a series of learning resources to support students as they develop their innovative ideas.

Andrew Long, CEO of HSBC Oman said, “Tatawwar encourages students to develop their future skills while raising awareness and understanding of how business can help address social and environment challenges. We are delighted with the response we have had from schools across Oman and we look forward to seeing the winning projects in the final event in April.”

Every country will witness the workshop after which a panel of judges across all the workshops will then select the top 20 finalists to participate in the final round in Muscat in April 2020. The top three winners’ prototypes will be showcased at the HSBC UK Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020, and will also receive cash prizes of US$5,000, US$3,000 and US$1,500 respectively.
