Bank Muscat celebrates completion of sports field
Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the sultanate, celebrated the completion of a football field developed as part of its Green Sports programme for the Al Khoudh Sports Team in the wilayat of Seeb in line with the bank’s commitment to community development and promoting Oman as a sporting nation.
Given the current phase of social distancing, the bank handed over a Certificate of Completion to the Al Khoudh Sports Team on the occasion, which was attended by Talib Saif al Makhmari, manager, Community & Media Relations, Bank Muscat, and Hammoud bin Muhammad Abdul-Baqi, chairman of Al Khoudh Sports Team, as well as a limited number of members of the club’s board of directors.
Bank Muscat continues to hand over more Green Sports fields to teams across the country as part of its efforts to support
Omani youth and local communities. The bank has so far provided support to 123 sports teams across different governorates since the launch of the programme in 2012.
Makhmari said, “We congratulate Al Khoud Sports Team for the completion of their field, which comes as part of Bank Muscat’s long-running Green Sports programme. Its implementation comes within the framework of the bank's pioneering role in corporate social responsibility and implementing sustainable programs that serves the community. These fields will go a long way in enhancing the physical and mental capabilities of members of the team and will contribute in the future to further build national talent and human resources, particularly in sports. The bank will continue to support different teams across the country and also help build more green spaces in line with its efforts to promote sustainable development.”
On his part, Abdul-Baqi thanked and appreciated Bank Muscat for the support in developing the sports field with natural grass. He said that Bank Muscat was a pioneer in sustainable development with its keenness to promote youth empowerment and communitybased development. He pointed out youth empowerment was a highly sustainable activity and an excellent way to promote the development of the country across all spheres.
This flagship CSR programme has been supporting the development of 15 football fields across Oman every year. Green Sports is one of the most successful CSR programmes of the bank and its support for sports teams include greening of football fields with natural or synthetic turf, floodlights or water desalination equipment in areas facing problems of water salinity. It is contributing to the emergence of more Omani talent in football and also has a positive impact on the environment.
The programme aims to develop a sustainable sports infrastructure across the sultanate, thereby providing a means to channelise the energy and talents of the youth in a productive way, besides helping local communities develop stronger bonds.
