OETC holds SMEs meet on Dhofar business opportunities
Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC), in cooperation with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) branch in the Dhofar governorate, organised a meeting with the owners of small and medium enterprises to raise their awareness of the available business opportunities in the company’s new projects in the Dhofar governorate.
The meeting came in response to the government’s approach to support small and medium enterprises and as part of the efforts made to implement the decisions to allocate at least 10 per cent of the contracts for small and medium enterprises.
The meeting provided an overview about the company and the work it does with special focus on the work that companies specializing in construction works can be involved in. The meeting was attended by a number of owners of small and medium enterprises in Dhofar, a team from OETC and OCCI branch in the Dhofar governorate officials. During the meeting, the questions of the owners of institutions were answered such as how to register with OETC, and how to benefit from the new projects, especially the 33/132 kV Seeh al Khairat grid station project and its associated overhead line from Seeh al Khairat grid station to 132 kv Thamrait grid station .
The aim of the project is to feed the power plant in Seeh al
Khairat, which depends on the use of diesel to produce electric energy by using alternatives, as diesel is very costly and known for its high emissions. This means that the project seeks to cut the operational costs for power production. OETC plays an important role in the electricity sector as it manages the main transmission network in the north and south of the sultanate. The company’s facilities transmit power from the power plants to the load centres distributed in all the governorates of the sultanate.
