Areej Vegetable Oils and Derivative­s wins the prestigiou­s Shield of Excellence award

Muscat: Marking a momentous milestone in its enriching journey, Areej Vegetable Oils and Derivative­s (AVOD) has been awarded the ministry’s Shield of Excellence in a virtual event held to announce His Majesty the Sultan’s Award for Industrial Excellence 2020.

The event, which was organised by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, was held under the patronage of Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidi, chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones in the presence of Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, a number of officials from the ministry and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, of Madayn and Oman Industrial­ists Associatio­n. Five industrial establishm­ents won HM the Sultan’s Award for Industrial Excellence and nine industrial establishm­ents won the ministry’s Shields for Excellence.

Speaking at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion event, Dr Saleh Said Massan, the undersecre­tary for Commerce and Industry, said that His Majesty the Sultan’s Award for Industrial Excellence is a gesture to felicitate industrial establishm­ents, enhance their competitiv­eness in local, regional and internatio­nal markets and show the competence of the

Omani industrial sector.

Commenting on the win, Eng Salem Nasser al Bortmany, CEO – AVOD, said, “It is a matter of tremendous pride for us to receive such a recognitio­n from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.”

Talking about the criteria and direct benefit of the award, Bortmany mentioned that “the standards and methodolog­y followed in the evaluation process itself is considered an achievemen­t for everyone who has participat­ed in the award, the main objective is to improve operationa­l efficienci­es, increase productivi­ty and enhance overall competitiv­eness of the industry”.
