Heavy rains reported in many parts of the sultanate
Muscat - Heavy to moderate rains were reported in several governorates on Sunday after the Met department predicted rains accompanied by strong winds of 30 to 45 knots over Muscat, Dakhliyah, North Batinah, South Batinah, North Sharqiyah, South Sharqiyah, Buraimi and Dhahirah.
The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre stated that a trough of low pressure (Al Ataya) is expected to affect the sultanate till Monday. ‘Varying intensity of rain with occasional thundershowers associated with fresh to strong winds and hail are expected over Musandam and Al Hajar Mountains and its surroundings,’ the centre stated.
Inclement weather may extend to the coastal areas of North Batinah, South Batinah, Muscat and South Sharqiyah accompanied with flash floods. There are chances of isolated rain over parts of Al Wusta governorate.
