Minister visits North Batinah to assess damage from rains
Muscat - H E Dr Saud bin Hammoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, accompanied by Sheikh Saif bin Hamiar al Malik al Shehi, Governor of North Batinah, visited Khabourah on Saturday to inspect the damage that the wilayat suffered as a result of the inclement weather conditions.
During the visit, H E Habsi was briefed on the damage to citizens' farms and greenhouses, in addition to the fish market in the wilayat.
The minister directed officials to remove debris and uprooted palm trees from the affected farms and to provide support to farmers and those affected.
Owing to large scale destruction caused by strong winds and rains in North Batinah, the engineering services of the Ministry of Defence continue to provide backup support to the affected wilayats.
The ministry provided the electricity company in the governorate with the necessary fuel to support the electricity sector as well as provided electricity by power generators and repaired electrical lines.
The Ministry of Defence’s heavy equipment also continue to reopen roads and remove waste, fallen trees and rocks, in addition to the deployment of water tankers to pump out water from inundated areas.
