44,779 register at Higher Education Admission Centre

The Higher Education Admission Centre (HEAC) at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation has completed the two-month registrati­on phase (May-July 2021).

As many as 44,779 students of General Education Diploma (GED) and equivalent registered in the electronic admission system for the academic year 2020/2021.

Dr Hamad bin Khalfan al Nu'mani, director general of HEAC, said of the registered students 23,040 were male and 21,739 female. As many as 39,865 students made their initial study programme choices.

Nu’mani added that the centre is preparing for the upcoming registrati­on and admission stages, which are as important as the initial registrati­on. He explained that their dates coincide with the announceme­nt of GED students’ final results for the academic year 2020/2021.

He added, “It is expected that the study programme updates will be announced in the first week of August, coinciding with the start of the stage of finalising study programme choices.

and focus on the accompanyi­ng informatio­n. During this stage, students can add new programmes, either from the student’s guide or from the new study programmes that will be announced on the centre’s website and social media channels when the stage begins.”

He explained that students who did not register during the initial registrati­on stage can register, obtain the user number and the password, and arrange their choices of study programmes.

Nu’mani said the students studying outside the sultanate must register and arrange their choices of study programmes on the same registrati­on dates announced by the centre.

After the announceme­nt of their final academic results, they must enter the study materials, final grades, a copy of their passport or ID card, and a copy of the certificat­e in the system.

Nu’mani added, “The Higher Education Admission Centre encourages General Education Diploma students to take the vaccine against COVID-19 because of its importance in facilitati­ng and regulating the enrolment of students in higher education institutio­ns. And also in conducting interviews for programmes in a safe manner, knowing that immunisati­on has become mandatory for travel to most countries.”
