The Ministry of Education (MoE) has started recruitment procedures to appoint 2,364 teachers in the new academic year – 2021-22 – in various governorates of the sultanate.

This follows the Ministry of Labour’s announcement to this effect made in cooperation with MoE. Of these, 440 male and female teachers are from Dakhliyah, some of who may be appointed in other governorates, according to the Directorate General of Education in the governorate.

“The competent committee has completed procedures for appointments, including matching educational qualifications, conducting medical examinations and opening bank accounts,” said Ahmed bin Hamad bin Saeed al Darei, head of the Appointments and Transfers Department in Dakhliyah governorate.

“The committee’s tasks also included conducting interviews focusing on applicants’ personal characteristics, and their technical and psychological readiness to join the field of education.”

The Directorate General of Education in Muscat Governorate also confirmed that it started recruitment procedures last week for teachers who will be appointed in the 2021-2022 academic year.

‘The government continues to provide job opportunities through training and qualification programmes and replacement of expats in the public sector, in addition to employment in various fields in the private sector,’ the Government Communication Centre said in a statement.

In January, the Ministry of Labour announced that 32,267 jobs will be made available for jobseekers this year, including 7,602 opportunities in government sector units.
