The relationship between Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has always been politically, economically and socially strong, will get a further boost with agreements set to be signed between the countries soon.

A statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, ‘The Saudi Cabinet, headed by King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud, held a virtual meeting on Tuesday. The meeting emphasised the signing of several agreements between Saudi Arabia and Oman in several areas, including youth, sports, culture, media, broadcasting, television, investment, communications, information technology, postal services and transportation.’

The agreements will further boost relations. This is in addition to bilateral meetings held in the past few months. Additionally, dialogues have taken place between the leaders of the two countries which is proof of the growing ties.

In June, an Omani delegation, led by H E Aseela bint Salim al Samsamiyah, Undersecretary for Investment Promotion in the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, visited Saudi Arabia when 150 investment opportunities worth RO1.5bn were proposed for Saudi Arabia. These are in the areas on real estate, industry, tourism, fisheries, renewable energy and petrochemicals.

Saudi Arabia has also shown interest in developing an industrial zone in Oman. Officials from the two countries met in Riyadh to discuss the industrial zone to be developed, operated and managed by Saudi Arabia to help build logistics infrastructure for transportation of goods between special economic zones in the two countries.
