Sayyid Badr discusses Yemen truce, JCPOA with US Sec Blinken
H E Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received a phone call from Anthony Blinken, Secretary of State of the United States of America, on Saturday evening.
The conversation dealt with the existing relations between the two friendly countries and their aspirations to advance these in various fields in a way that enhances common interests and achieves more mutual benefits.
The two exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest, especially with regard to efforts to maintain truce in Yemen in order to enhance chances of achieving peace and stability in Yemen.
The two also spoke about the resumption of the Iran nuclear agreement - Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) - negotiations, and the Ukrainian conflict. The two affirmed the importance of intensifying efforts and endeavours to address issues through dialogue and diplomatic solutions in a manner that preserves the independence and sovereignty of countries and peoples and peaceful coexistence between them.
On Wednesday, H E Sayyid Badr spoke with Robert Malley, US Special Envoy for Iran, over phone. Several issues of common concern and efforts to resume work on the JCPOA were discussed.
On Tuesday, H E Sayyid Badr received a call from Hossein Amir Abdollahian, his Iranian counterpart, to discuss the reopening of the Iranian nuclear agreement negotiations.
Oman has been facilitating back-channel negotiations on both the Yemen and Iran fronts. The sultanate has been actively involved by bringing all sides to the negotiation table and thrashing out amicable solutions for the benefit of the people of Yemen.
The UN envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg and US Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking frequently travel to Muscat to facilitate peace talks in Yemen.
