Sayyid Belarab chairs Omani startups programme meet
A supervisory committee tasked with an Omani startup companies programme held its first meeting under the auspices of H H Sayyid Belarab bin Haitham al Said on Thursday.
The meeting aimed to develop a scheme for innovation-based companies that utilise advanced technologies in the sultanate.
The programme, which seeks to promote the culture of startups in educational institutions and society, is in line with Oman Vision 2040, which gives priority to economic diversification and fiscal sustainability.
Halima Rashid al Zar’ee, Chairperson of Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, told ONA that the programme seeks to bolster innovative ideas, support the establishment of innovation-based startups and link these to business, investment and financing opportunities, thereby offering them better exposure to local and global markets.
