Foundation stone laid for Sohar Titanium Project

Sohar – A ceremony was held at Sohar Freezone on Sunday to lay the foundation stone of Sohar Titanium Project to produce titanium dioxide at a cost of Ro43mn.

The project will be set up on an area of 120,000 square meters. Once completed, it will have a production capacity of 150,000 tonnes per year.

The project is expected to start commercial operation by 2025.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of H E Eng Salim Nassir al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals.

Sohar Titanium Project is a strategic partnershi­p between Minerals Developmen­t Oman (MDO) and its partners. While MDO owns 35 per cent stake in

the project, remaining 65 per cent is distribute­d to Dubai Holding and Stork Internatio­nal through Gulf Titanium.
