Foundation stone laid for Sohar Titanium Project
Sohar – A ceremony was held at Sohar Freezone on Sunday to lay the foundation stone of Sohar Titanium Project to produce titanium dioxide at a cost of Ro43mn.
The project will be set up on an area of 120,000 square meters. Once completed, it will have a production capacity of 150,000 tonnes per year.
The project is expected to start commercial operation by 2025.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of H E Eng Salim Nassir al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals.
Sohar Titanium Project is a strategic partnership between Minerals Development Oman (MDO) and its partners. While MDO owns 35 per cent stake in
the project, remaining 65 per cent is distributed to Dubai Holding and Stork International through Gulf Titanium.
