Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) announced the final list of 122 candidates for election to its Board of Directors on Monday. Polling will be held on November 22.

A statement issued by OCCI said the list of 122 includes candidates from public shareholding companies, foreign investors and private sector companies.

Announcing details of the vote, OCCI stated that Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat and Sultan Qaboos Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Dhofar will serve as polling centres.

OCCI’S headquarters in the wilayats of Khasab and Dibba in Musandam and its administrative branches will serve as polling centres in the remaining governorates.

On Monday, the chamber began introductory meetings for candidates, allowing them to present their election agenda and future plans.

The inaugural ceremony for the meetings was held under the auspices of Dr Saleh bin Saeed bin Salem Masn, Undersecretary for Commerce and Industry in Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.

Earlier this year, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik issued Royal Decree 56/2022, which promulgated the bylaw of OCCI.

Under the new bylaw, OCCI’S Board of Directors will consist of five members from Muscat governorate, heads from the remaining ten governorates, five representatives of public share holding companies listed on Muscat Stock Exchange or their chief executives, and one expat investor benefiting from the Investors Residency Programme.
