Thumping win fo Oman in Desert Cup
Muscat - Oman cruised past Saudi Arabia by nine wickets in their opening match at the Desert Cup T20 Series at Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Muscat on Monday.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Saudi Arabia were all at sea right from the very be
ginning. Bilal Khan was the wrecker-in-chief for Oman taking three wickets for just 20 runs from his four overs. Kaleemullah took three for 14 as Saudi Arabian
batters struggled to tackle them and finished at 86 for 8. Haseeb Ghafoor was their lone saving grace, with an unbeaten 34.
In reply, Oman were off to an emphatic start as openers
Kashyap Kumar Harishbhai and Jatinder Singh found their range in no time. Though Kashyap was out on 32, Jatinder was unbeaten on 50 off 28 balls to take Oman
home in the 11th over. Oman take on Bahrain in their next match on Tuesday.
The four-team series, also involving Canada and Bahrain will be played in a double round-robin
format followed by a 3rd place play off and a final. Entry is free
