South Korean Embassy hosts National Day, Armed Forces Day reception, friendship concert
The Korean Embassy on Sunday hosted National Day and Armed
Forces Day reception, while a friendship concert was held on Monday, a release said.
The common thread of these events was to commemorate a long-standing partnership between Korea and Oman that has
grown from strength to strength since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1974, the embassy stated.
South Korean Ambassador H E Kim Kiejoo highlighted the bridges that link both countries and peoples in four fields in his remarks at the reception.
H E Kim emphasised that “the shared commitment to peace and prosperity has prevailed to the mutual benefit of the two countries and beyond” on the political and security and
defence bridge. He also underlined that “a thriving economic and trade bridge is linking the two economies” with Korea as the third-largest trade partner of Oman. He reassured the com
mitment to “aligning the partnership with the Oman Vision 2040 and contributing to its fulfillment”.
“Korea and Oman could further create a ‘green hydrogen bridge’ building on the traditional energy bridge founded on the long-term contract for supplying Omani LNG to Korea,” he said.
Korea is the largest destination of Omani LNG with 44 per
cent of Oman’s LNG production is exported to Korea. The fourth
bridge he elaborated is a cultural bridge which is built by cultural exchanges, scholarship programme and the instrumental role of the Oman-korea Friendship Association.
Korea’s Beautiful Mind Charity performed its friendship concert on November 14 with the Omani, Korean and expat community audience to celebrate
the 48th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
The Beautiful Mind Charity has pursued cultural diplomacy with the aim of giving and shar
ing love with the less privileged in the world through musical performance.
The theme of the concert was a ‘Beautiful Evening of Harmony in Muscat’. As such, the concert showcased a harmonious omnibus of music covering Korean and Omani traditional music and classical as well as contemporary musi
cal pieces. Ambassador Kim expressed his willingness to “continue the endeavor of the Korean Embassy to further facilitate cultural cooperation with the Omani partners.”
