122 usufruct contracts worth Ro106mn inked till Q3 of 2022: MHUP

MHUP offered more than 100 plots of land for bidding through the Tatweer platform

To attract foreign investment and stimulate the economy, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MHUP) signed usufruct

agreements worth Ro106mn in the first three quarters of 2022.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, an official said, “The ministry signed 122 usufruct contracts for gov

ernment land valued at more than Ro106mn in various sectors, including industry, commerce, education, sports and health, in addition to fuel stations and services, during the period from January to September this year.”

The agreements also targeted food security, fish farming and wheat cultivatio­n and production.

MHUP offered more than 100 plots of land for bidding through the Tatweer platform. It offered 22 plots for electronic bidding

in several wilayats in the governorat­es of Muscat, South Batinah and Dhofar, and 20 industrial plots in Misfah in the wilayat of Bausher, Muscat, and seven plots for bidding for fuel stations in the governorat­es of Buraimi, North Batinah, South Batinah, Dhofar, Dhahirah and Al Wusta.

He informed that for social housing projects, MHUP spent

Ro35mn on 1,400 families who benefited from a housing assistance programme implemente­d

according to directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik this year.

The ministry distribute­d 11 housing units in Suwaiq and signed an agreement to establish 30 housing units in Suwaiq and

Khabourah for those affected by Cyclone Shaheen in October 2021.

According to the official, MHUP also provided housing assistance in Quriyat in Muscat

and the wilayats of Barka, Nakhal and Wadi al Ma’awil in South Batinah.
