Indian School Darsait celebrates its annual day
Indian School Darsait celebrated its 30th annual day at the Grand Hall of Al-falaj Hotel on November 10. Indian Ambassador H E Amit Narang was the chief guest for the occasion, while Dr Sivakumar Manickam, Chairman of the
Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, was the guest of honour.
Amongst others who graced the occasion were dignitaries from the Indian Embassy, distinguished guests from the Board of Directors and members of the school management committee.
The Royal Anthem of Oman and the National Anthem of India marked the commencement of the event followed by lighting of the lamp. An invocation dance performed by the students evoked the blessings of the Almighty. Head boy Maganda Dinesh accorded
a formal welcome to the guests. Ajit Vasudevan, convenor and head of academics, school management com
mittee addressed the gathering. School
principal Amar Srivastava gave a digital presentation of the annual report.
The chief guest honoured the staff for completing 25 years of service at ISD and for excellence in teaching. The students were felicitated for their remarkable achievements in the field of academics and sports. H E Narang also presented the trophies to the runners up and winners of Inter-house cultural events and Overall Champion House
of the year. The Indian Ambassador lauded ISD for its achievements in three decades and the leading role it has been playing in the lives of the Indian diaspora. The chief guest called upon the students to consider educa
tion as ‘a vehicle and passport’ for success and proposed a four-pronged matrix for learning emphasising on learning from everyone, learning from everything, learning about surroundings and learning to ask ‘why’ in order
to be a better learner.
