Muscat Nights is drawing huge crowds across its four venues with Naseem Park witnessing a rush of families - arriving to immerse themselves in a plethora of activities lined up by the organisers - Muscat Municipality.

With focus on youth and use of technology this year at Muscat Nights, visitors to the heritage village in Naseem Park are treated to an experience in virtual reality that takes them on a tour of some of the most iconic cultural and tourist sites in Oman, all the while sitting on those comfortable chairs in the heritage village.

“Naseem Park is hosting a number of activities in the heritage village and the Madagascar Village with live performances, apart from exhibitions and other shows and carnivals,” a Muscat Municipality

“The municipality is presenting the virtual reality technology in the heritage village, making the visitors reflect on the time and history of Oman.”

The VR programme allows visitors to take a tour of six sites, such as the Royal Opera House Muscat, Qasr al Alam Palace, Muttrah Souq, wilayat of Sur, Nizwa Souq and Misfat al Abriyeen.

“The initiative aims to adopt emerging technologies in presenting the landmarks of the sultanate, and introduce children and visitors to Oman’s popular cultural legacy. It also aims to promote tourist areas in Oman, including the markets; and cultural and tourist attractions,” the official added.

Apart from the heritage village, Naseem Park is also hosting children’s pneumatic and electronic games, ‘Chuba Chops’ carnival, ‘football skills’ and ‘ballerina bubble ball’ shows, besides a show on ‘Ultraviolet’ series amid other events.

The park is also the venue for sports and circus performances as well as offering a carnival arena with live performances.

Muscat Nights is being held in four locations: Qurum Natural Park, Naseem Park, Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, and Oman Automobile Association.

All four venues are open daily to the public from 4pm to 11pm, while on weekends the locations will remain open until midnight, except for Qurum Nature Park, which will close at 11.30pm.
