‘The New Era of Work’ conference from Feb 7
The Ministry of Labour (MOL), in cooperation with the Omani Society for Human Resources Management (OSHRM), will have its annual ‘The New Era of Work’ conference next month to delve deep into various aspects of developing human resources in the sultanate.
The conference will be held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre from February 7 to February 9, the ministry said, adding that the sixth annual conference ‘ aims to develop the Omani human resources and enhance the country’s human capital’.
Dr Ghalib al Hosni, chairman of OSHRM, said that the importance of the conference comes within the framework of the progress and prosperity witnessed by the human resources sector, which is striving to fulfill the government’s aspirations and vision for the sector to write a new future for the sultanate.
One of the important topics that will be discussed in the conference will be the ‘future of workforce and workplace’, the ministry said.
This will be done through panel discussions and paper presentations, which will showcase the latest innovations, trends and creative solutions in the development of human capital.
Dr Mohammed al Najjar, Director General of Training at the Ministry of Labour, said that the human resources sector is receiving great attention in Oman from the government, as it is the main axis of any development and progress. “The Ministry of Labour is working in accordance with Oman Vision 2040 in supporting non-profit organisations in the sector”, and “signed many memoranda of cooperation for training of national cadres”, he said, noting that OSHRM is one of the important role models that keeps pace with the process of development and prosperity in human resources management.
The conference will also have ‘OSHRM Awards’ ceremony, Mohammed al Maimani, Board Member of OSHRM, said. This will be the second season of the ceremony, during which eight awards distributed into three categories will be given away.
The ‘Institutions’ category will include ‘Most Effective Institution Award during the COVID-19 Pandemic’, ‘ Best Human Resources Initiative During the COVID-19 Pandemic’, ‘Impactful Business Award by Aligning Data Analytics During the COVID-19 Pandemic’ and ‘Influential Business Award during the COVID-19 pandemic’.
In the ‘ Business’ category, there will be a ‘Leadership Award’, ‘Best Effective HR Professional During the COVID-19 Pandemic Award' and the ‘Most Effective CEO Award During the COVID-19 Pandemic’.
The third category - dedicated to research - will include the ‘Best Research Award Related to Human Resources During the COVID-19 Pandemic’.
