Ideas invited to address local challenges
MOHERI launched a competition as part of Oman Innovation Festival
The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation (MOHERI) has launched a governorate-level competition to encourage a culture of innovation and address the unique challenges faced by each governorate in Oman.
The Governorates’ Innovation Competition launched as part of the Oman Innovation Festival, called upon both citizens and residents to propose innovative solutions to specific issues in their respective governorates, MOHERI said in a statement.
The deadline for submission of ideas and plans has been set for January 31, the ministry informed.
The competition, in collaboration with the governorate offices across Oman, has been designed to engage participants in identifying and addressing local problems. It seeks ideas that offer innovative solutions with potential economic, social, and environmental benefits.
‘Entries will be evaluated based on the originality and clarity of the idea, its relevance to the problem, feasibility, and any associated risks,’ the ministry underlined.
Eligibility criteria mandate that a participant must be either an Omani national or a resident, and must reside in the governorate for which one is offering ideas. Proposals should be original and must offer a solution to a particular problem in the governorate or for utilisation of the region’s natural resource.
The winning team from each governorate will be obligated to participate in an exhibition to be held during the Oman Innovation Festival.
This platform will showcase their ideas and contributions towards innovative local development. The competition underscores MOHERI’S commitment to promoting inventive thinking and problem-solving at a local level, furthering the advancement of Oman’s governorates.
