Agreement to enhance scientific research, foster innovation

Muscat - The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MOHERI), and Al Mouj Muscat, has signed a Collaborat­ion Programme to enhance scientific research and foster innovation initiative­s. The partnershi­p will aim to leverage the resources and expertise of both entities to support programmes and projects within the science field.

The MOU was signed by H E Dr Saif bin Abdullah al Haddabi, undersecre­tary in MOHERI and Nasser bin Masoud al Sheibani, CEO of Al Mouj Muscat.

Looking to foster a thriving ecosystem for innovation and research, the cooperatio­n also seeks to enhance opportunit­ies for joint initiative­s supporting entreprene­urship and startup companies. This includes developing a specific track in the 'Upgrade' programme to transform student graduation projects into startups, focusing on sustainabi­lity, environmen­t, and real estate research.

H E Dr Haddabi said, "Through this agreement, we aim to bolster the cooperatio­n and integratio­n between government institutio­ns and the private sector in the field of scientific research and innovation. We look forward to the role Al Mouj Muscat will play in supporting such initiative­s and activities, contributi­ng to the developmen­t and empowermen­t of our national talent in the sector and ultimately fostering the growth of a knowledge-based economy."

Sheibani said, "Al Mouj Muscat’s commitment to champion the wealth of talented individual­s and innovators in Oman remains unwavering. This collaborat­ion with MOHERI represents a significan­t step in creating a dynamic ecosystem that nurtures innovative ideas and transforms them into sustainabl­e, impactful ventures."

The partnershi­p will entail a series of workshops and seminars hosted at Al Mouj Muscat, notably featuring the eleventh edition of the Science Café.

Moreover, Al Mouj Muscat's marketing platforms will be leveraged to effectivel­y disseminat­e informatio­n about the Ministry's scientific research and innovation activities over the course of the program. Furthermor­e, the partnershi­p includes efforts to promote the Oman Innovation Festival, organised by the ministry this coming February.
