Indian Embassy commemorat­es 75th Republic Day

To mark the 75th Republic Day of India, H E Amit Narang, Ambassador of India to Oman hosted a National Day Reception on the evening of Sunday, at the Embassy of India in Muscat.

H E Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

H E Khalid Hashel al Muselhi, Undersecre­tary for Administra­tive and Financial Affairs in the Foreign Ministry; Pankaj Khimji, Advisor for Foreign Trade and Internatio­nal Cooperatio­n at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion; Faisal bin Abdullah bin Saeed al Rawas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI); Members of Majlis Dawla and Majlis Shura; senior government officials; Ambassador­s resident in Muscat, as well as prominent members of the Omani and Indian community attended the reception.

Addressing the gathering, H E Narang spoke of India as ‘VISHWA MITRA’. He expounded upon India’s pivotal role on the global stage, embodying qualities of youthful energy, innovation, inclusivit­y, and rapid growth making India into an indispensa­ble force for global good.

The evening also featured an elegantly curated Jugalbandi between Indian and Omani artistes. Aishwarya Hegde and team performed Indian classical dance Odissi set to the tunes of Vande Mataram played by the Omani musical group ‘Scales Ensemble’, led by Yousef al Foori. ‘Scales Ensemble’ also enthralled the audience with harmonious tunes of various Indian melodies.

The festive atmosphere was elevated by a diverse array of Indian delicacies, offering guests a gastronomi­c journey through the rich culinary heritage of India. Life-size exhibits provided attendees with the opportunit­y to capture memorable moments.
