42 pacemakers implanted in Suhar Hospital in 2023
Suhar Hospital has seen notable success in the field of cardiac care, particularly through its cardiac catheterisation laboratory which is supported by the National Centre for Cardiac Medicine and Surgery. Since its inauguration in 2023, the laboratory has successfully implanted 42 pacemakers, showcasing the hospital's dedication to advanced cardiac interventions.
A noteworthy aspect is the hospital's alignment with the Ministry of Health's decentralisation strategy, aiming to provide healthcare services closer to communities, reduce patient waiting lists, and ensure the accessibility of necessary care. Performing these critical cardiac operations outside Muscat governorate underscores a commitment to serving a broader population.
Dr Najeeb Zahran al Rawahi, Director of National Centre for
Cardiac Medicine and Surgery, emphasised the success of collaborations between his institution and Suhar Hospital initiated in 2009. One of the significant outcomes is the establishment of a specialised clinic at the hospital for heart rhythm patients. Managed by a consultant in electrocardiology from the national centre, this clinic has conducted over 600 examinations.
Cardiac care facilities at Suhar Hospital extends beyond routine services, offering a range of advanced treatments. It offers cutting-edge cardiac interventions, from diagnosing heart rhythm disorders to administering medication and conducting pacemaker and defibrillator implants.
