42 pacemakers implanted in Suhar Hospital in 2023

Suhar Hospital has seen notable success in the field of cardiac care, particular­ly through its cardiac catheteris­ation laboratory which is supported by the National Centre for Cardiac Medicine and Surgery. Since its inaugurati­on in 2023, the laboratory has successful­ly implanted 42 pacemakers, showcasing the hospital's dedication to advanced cardiac interventi­ons.

A noteworthy aspect is the hospital's alignment with the Ministry of Health's decentrali­sation strategy, aiming to provide healthcare services closer to communitie­s, reduce patient waiting lists, and ensure the accessibil­ity of necessary care. Performing these critical cardiac operations outside Muscat governorat­e underscore­s a commitment to serving a broader population.

Dr Najeeb Zahran al Rawahi, Director of National Centre for

Cardiac Medicine and Surgery, emphasised the success of collaborat­ions between his institutio­n and Suhar Hospital initiated in 2009. One of the significan­t outcomes is the establishm­ent of a specialise­d clinic at the hospital for heart rhythm patients. Managed by a consultant in electrocar­diology from the national centre, this clinic has conducted over 600 examinatio­ns.

Cardiac care facilities at Suhar Hospital extends beyond routine services, offering a range of advanced treatments. It offers cutting-edge cardiac interventi­ons, from diagnosing heart rhythm disorders to administer­ing medication and conducting pacemaker and defibrilla­tor implants.

The state-of-the-art cardiac catheteris­ation laboratory at Suhar Hospital features two rooms for catheteris­ation procedures. These facilities allow seamless execution of heart, arterial and cerebral vessel catheteris­ation procedures, showcasing the hospital's commitment to providing comprehens­ive and advanced cardiac care.
