ROHM lines up exciting education, outreach initiatives for February

-

The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) is excited to release the schedule of events which will be taking place over the month of February.

‘Explore a packed schedule of activities, choose from instrumental concerts in Absolute Music on February 12; two free admission concerts which will take place at the Royal Opera House of Musical Arts, focusing on the piano and violin as concert instruments,’ the ROHM stated.

The artistes for both these concerts are also taking masterclasses for students of music in Oman.

‘In addition, on February 11, you are invited to a book presentation of The Violin Revealed. The History, Techniques, and Secrets of

Italian Violin Making from Stradivari to Today by the authors in the Music Library,’ the ROHM management added.

Over the first ten days of February, the opera house will delve deeply into Shakespeare in alignment with the production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the main programme. Play Your Dream - Exploring Shakespeare is a project made up of lectures, workshops, activities, and events which will bring the bard to life for readers of all ages. The full list of activities can be discovered on the opera house website.

The Open House on February 24 is a return to the established format of a day of activities in locations across the opera house, entitled ‘Making Instruments’. The ROHM invited everyone to attend and learn about the art of making music from objects and the skill in creating instruments which sing.

Towards the end of the month, the opera house will launch ‘Building Bridges - Creating Community Connections’, driving an initiative to bring opera and music to a wider audience in the community, those for whom a visit to the opera house is not easy.

Concerts will take place at Sultan Qaboos University Hospitals, at the Children’s Centre, and at the Autism Centre of Muscat, creating incredible moments that will inspire new minds and create lasting memories.

Alongside the founding vision of the opera house to provide enrichment and global cultural partnerships, the opera house has always placed initiatives which connect with the community at the centre of the season’s activities and programme.

The ROHM is committed to inspiring minds across generations to explore new musical genres and artistic opportunities, to stimulate personal growth, and feelings of community amongst audiences, it said, adding, ‘the community of Oman, and the region benefits from a world class platform, with world class performance, which strives to fascinate and enrich all’. Full details of these exciting activities can be found on the Royal Opera House Muscat website and booking can be made online or via the Education Department, it added.
