Kuwait Emir gets rousing welcome
Muscat - Sheikh Mishal al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, arrived on a two-day state visit to the Sultanate of Oman on Tuesday.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik led the welcoming party for the Emir of Kuwait.
As the guest’s jet entered the Omani airspace, it was escorted by a squadron of military aircraft till its arrival at Royal Airport.
When the jet touched down at Royal Airport, His Majesty the Sultan met the guest at the foot of the ramp, welcoming him and wishing him and his accompanying delegation a pleasant stay in Oman.
Then, His Majesty the Sultan and Sheikh Mishal headed to the airport hall, escorted by two rows of Royal Guard of Oman (RGO) personnel.
After a short break, the motorcade of the two leaders left the Royal Airport, heading to Al Alam Palace for an official reception.
As the motorcade passed Muscat Gate, Royal Camel Corps personnel flanked both sides of the road, welcoming the guest. Then, a cavalcade from Royal Cavalry and the RGO Cavalry escorted the official motorcade till the National Museum to the accompaniment of a mounted military music band.
When the official motorcade arrived at Al Alam Palace, the artillery fired a 21- gun salute for the guest.
Upon arrival of the motorcade at the courtyard of Al Alam Palace, a welcome tune was played by the RGO band in an atmosphere of fanfare and festivities.
A reception was held at Al Alam Palace with participation of more than 600 male and female citizens. Folklore bands flanked the passage, chanting slogans welcoming the guest.
After that, His Majesty the Sultan accompanied Sheikh Mishal to the Dais of Honour where the National Anthem of the State of Kuwait was played, followed by His Majesty shaking hands with members of the official delegation accompanying the emir and wishing them a pleasant stay.
On his turn, Sheikh Mishal shook hands with members of the Royal Family, Chairmen of State Council and Shura Council, ministers, commanders of Sultan’s Armed Forces and Royal Oman Police.
After that, His Majesty the Sultan and the guest proceeded to the reception hall in Al Alam Palace for refreshments.
