Abu Dhabi Asian Le Mans Series title showdown for Al Zubair and team

-

The Al Manar Racing by Getspeed team is aiming to secure the GT Team and Driver Trophies as the Asian Le Mans Series concludes at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit this weekend.

The championship will be decided over two 4H of Abu Dhabi races on Saturday and Sunday.

Oman’s Al Faisal al Zubair, Germany’s Fabian Schiller and China’s Anthony Liu will crew the team’s Mercedes-amg GT3 Evo and hope to build upon the second place they achieved at last weekend’s third race of the campaign in Dubai. That excellent performance has consolidated third places in the respective championships for Al Zubair and Schiller behind the Pure Rxcing trio of Klaus Bachler, Joel Sturm and Alex Malykhin in a Porsche 911 GT3 R and Sainteloc Racing’s Christopher Haase, Gilles Magnus and Alban Varutti.

Al Zubair said: “We are currently third in the championship, just one point behind second and 14 behind the leaders, so Abu Dhabi will be all or nothing for us. We aim to go for two wins. We know it will be difficult but we will try our best.”

The Yas Marina circuit was designed by Hermann Tilke and was established in 2009. It is one of the most popular race circuits in Asia and traditionally hosts the final round of the FIA Formula One World Championship.

The first four-hour race starts at 15.00hrs on Saturday. The second 4H of Abu Dhabi fires into life at 16.00hrs on Sunday.
