Climate change, decarbonisation meet on Feb 26-28
Environment Authority (EA) will organise Oman Environmental Sustainability Conference at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre from February 26 to 28 focused on mitigating the effects of climate change and decarbonisation efforts.
The event will be held under the patronage of Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan.
The conference will discuss several topics on the environment and natural resources and include presentations of close to 200 scientific research papers from various countries published for the first time.
Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Amri, Chairman of EA, said, “Throughout the duration of the conference, participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussions, share insights and learn from experts who are at the forefront of decarbonisation efforts. Together, we will explore innovative solutions and best practices that can drive progress towards our shared goal of mitigating the effects of climate change and
achieving global climate targets.”
He noted that addressing the urgent issue of climate change requires a collective effort from various sectors. “Our conference will serve as a crucial platform for fostering collaborations and knowledge exchange among scientists, researchers, policymakers, industry leaders and environmentalists, all driven by a resolute commitment to decarbonisation.”
He added that decarbonisation is the key to reducing or eliminating carbon emissions from a wide range of sources and that the conference is dedicated to promoting the adoption of low-carbon technologies, strategies and policies across industries such as energy, transportation and manufacturing. “It is through these efforts that we can pave the way for a sustainable and greener future,” Amri said.
