Baby College pioneers early childhood education in Muscat
In an initiative aimed at enhancing child development, a school for mother and babies recently opened at two locations in Muscat.
Called Baby College, awardwinning classes of this innovative concept were introduced in Azaiba and Al Mouj, providing a structured platform for early childhood education.
The brainchild of Neda Mostofi, Baby College has been tailored to bridge the educational gap for mothers seeking an enriching developmental programme for their infants in Muscat. Drawing inspiration from the success of Baby College UK and leveraging her personal journey as a British mother to an Omani child, Neda recognised the need for a comprehensive educational framework that supports both mothers and their babies during the crucial early stages of development.
"Having experienced the benefits of Baby College UK firsthand, I was keen on creating a similar nurturing environment in Muscat. This initiative is not just about child development; it's about empowering mothers with

knowledge and skills to foster their child's growth effectively," Neda informed.
Led by Sarah Reed, Programme Leader, Baby College runs weekly one-hour sessions for three distinct age groups - infants, toddlers and juniors. These sessions are designed to offer more than just an educational experience, providing a community for mothers to engage, share experiences and learn together.
"Our curriculum is the culmination of expertise drawn from various developmental fields, ensuring a holistic approach to early childhood education.
Through carefully curated play, movement and learning exercises, we aim to equip parents with the understanding of how these activities contribute to their child's overall growth," Sarah elaborated.
With a team comprising early years specialists, academics and practitioners, Baby College positions itself as a unique offering in Muscat’s educational landscape, specifically catering to the needs of young mothers and their babies. Following the positive reception, there are plans to open another centre in Madinat Qaboos.
