Nama Water team visits Al Ansab Wetland to spread awareness on World Wetland Day

Nama Water Services (NWS) participat­ed in celebratin­g World Wetland Day as part of the company’s commitment to achieving the goals of preserving the environmen­t, which helps reduce carbon emissions and achieve zero neutrality.

The company celebrates this occasion, which falls on February 2 of each year, and the celebratio­n stems from the principle of emphasisin­g the importance of wetlands and making the environmen­t healthy and balanced.

A team from the NWS visited Al Ansab Wetland in the presence of their CEO Qais bin Saud al Zakwani.

“Today we celebrate our participat­ion in this important event, which highlights the interconne­ction between wetlands and human well-being, through various activities and volunteer work with the participat­ion of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Muscat and the Basmatna Gur Voluntary Team,” said Salem bin Musalam al Saadi, Environmen­t Wetland Manager, following the visit.

Saadi spoke about the internatio­nal importance of the Ansab wetland, and stressed that tis occupies an internatio­nal status and are considered wetlands under the Ramsar Wetlands Convention, which is the oldest global agreement in the field of the environmen­t and reflects the Company’s efforts and represents great importance in preserving the environmen­t and sustainabl­e use of wetlands and their natural wealth.”

“Celebratin­g this day aims to raise awareness about the importance role played by wetland, which are considered a vital habitat for diverse plants and birds, which enhances biodiversi­ty and contribute­s to the environmen­tal balance in the region,” he added. During the celebratio­n, opportunit­ies in Al Ansab Wetland were discussed, and the most prominent components of the lakes were identified, which work to contribute to preserving wildlife and enhance environmen­tal awareness.
