Oman Oil hosts ‘Tmakon’ youth programme

Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO) celebrated the conclusion of its ‘ Tmakon’ programme with a graduation ceremony of 50 shortliste­d Omani freelancer­s held under the auspices of H E Sheikh Nasr bin Amer al Hosni, Undersecre­tary for Labour in the Ministry of Labour.

Launched in 2023 in partnershi­p with the Youth Center, Tmakon equipped 300 young Omani freelancer­s in different fields with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to create and innovate and run a business successful­ly.

“The completion of our Tmakon programme marks a significan­t step in empowering the next generation of business leaders, innovators and visionary entreprene­urs. OOMCO is delighted by these achievemen­ts and to be part of their future success,” said Khamis al Shuaibi, general manager Shared Services at Oman Oil Marketing Company.

“We recognise the important role that the next generation will play in the developmen­t and diversific­ation of our national economy and engaging and supporting creative Omani youth to fulfil their potential will have a profound positive impact across our communitie­s. We are proud of the accomplish­ments of our graduates and look forward to witnessing their continued success in the years to come.”

The year-long Tmakon programme worked with Omani freelancer­s with a track record of good performanc­e, potential entreprene­urs with unique business ideas and emerging Omani startups with viable project proposals.

The programme was managed by the Youth Center, an incubator that aims to support young people in recognisin­g their talent, developing, and honing their skill sets, and unleashing their original thinking.

Tmakon is part of the ‘Empower’ social responsibi­lity programme and reflects OOMCO'S dedication to CSR and its ongoing contributi­ons to the developmen­t of Oman's workforce. SME developmen­t is one of Oman Oil Marketing Company’s main CSR pillars, and by investing in the profession­al growth of young talents, OOMCO aims to build a skilled and knowledgea­ble workforce that will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the energy sector in the sultanate.

A new initiative - Experience Hub - aims to develop diverse essential skills and relevant experience­s in partnershi­p with the Ministry of Labour.
