MEM signs agreements for 11 major projects of Ro5mn
The Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MEM) on Tuesday inked agreements for implementation of 11 national projects involving a total financial implication of Ro5mn involving private entities.
This collaborative endeavour involves seven leading companies in the energy and minerals sector, including Petroleum Development Oman, Occidental Oman, BP Oman, OQ, Daleel Petroleum Company, CC Energy Development Company, and ARA Petroleum.
Of those 11 projects, three are said to be significant and they include Ibri Public Park Project, financing medical equipment for Khoula Hospital (Day Clinics), and Khuta ‘Steps’ Platform Project for vocational guidance and career counseling.
The Ibri project in Dhahirah governorate entails the establishment of a recreational area, marking a significant milestone as the first of its kind in the region. Spanning over 500,000sqm area, the park will be developed in three phases, featuring green spaces, water bodies, health paths, recreational facilities, and an open-air theatre. Emphasising sustainability and future development, this initiative promises to enhance the quality of life for residents while nurturing community engagement.
Addressing critical healthcare needs, financing of medical equipment for Khoula aims to bolster surgical services at the hospital, enabling round-theclock operations to accommodate a projected 10,000 surgeries annually.
By funding essential medical equipment for the orthopedic department and ophthalmology clinic, this endeavor aims to reduce surgical waitlists, alleviate health burdens, and elevate societal well-being.
The Khuta platform emerges as a beacon of guidance, offering advanced career counseling services to students and job seekers. Tailored to bridge the gap between schools, higher education and employment, this initiative furnishes updated information on educational programmes, training opportunities, and labour market insights.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals for 2024, Khuta embodies a holistic approach to empower individuals and nurture professional growth.
During the ceremony, H E Mohsen bin Hamad al Hadrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, expressed pride in the close cooperation between the ministry and its partners in supporting and financing community projects.
He highlighted the significant role played by these partnerships in enhancing the quality of life and achieving sustainable development goals.
This collaborative effort underscores a shared commitment to enriching communities, fostering sustainable development, and enhancing the well-being of citizens across the region.
Additionally, the ceremony featured PDO signing several agreements to finance social investment programmes in collaboration with various governmental and private agencies.
