Madayn drives industrial innovation through Intaj Suhar for Manufactur­ing

Muscat - The Public Establishm­ent for Industrial Estates (Madayn), through the Industrial Innovation Academy, is dedicated to fostering industrial innovation and applied research while reinforcin­g national capabiliti­es in the industrial sector. This involves focusing on downstream production from existing key industries; identifyin­g, developing, and incubating industrial investment opportunit­ies; transformi­ng them into value-added opportunit­ies with quality capabiliti­es, products, and services while leveraging automation and Industry 4.0 technologi­es.

Intaj Suhar for Advanced Manufactur­ing, overseen by the Industrial Innovation Academy, stands as one of the initiative­s supporting the manufactur­ing sector, fostering innovation, driving advanced industries forward, and promoting economic diversific­ation in line with Oman Vision 2040.

“The company, which is based at Sohar University in Al Batinah North Governorat­e, functions as a factory for molds and spare parts with the goal of mass production to achieve cost reduction, enhance production output, and target local and internatio­nal markets,” said Majid al Hinai, Executive Director of Intaj Suhar for Advanced Manufactur­ing. Hinai pointed out that the company currently comprises three centers, namely, Plastic Technology Center, Manufactur­ing Tools Center (Dies and Molds), and Advanced Manufactur­ing Center.

“Intaj Suhar’s objectives include developing technologi­cal skills and capabiliti­es; prototypin­g, product and tools designing and manufactur­ing; advanced training and HR developmen­t; enhancing ICV and promoting economic diversific­ation; fostering job creation; and providing opportunit­ies for the SMES in the industrial sector,” Hinai said.

He added, “Intaj Suhar provides high-value R&D and manufactur­ing services, reverse engineerin­g services, precision components manufactur­ing, mold manufactur­ing, and spare parts production for diverse industrial companies. Utilizing cutting-edge technologi­es, the company aims at attaining the utmost quality in its processes, products, and services, emphasizin­g its commitment to delivering advanced solutions to its clients. This commitment further solidifies the company’s role as one of the key contributo­rs to the advancemen­t of the manufactur­ing and innovation sectors.”

Intaj Suhar is equipped with advanced facilities for training Omani cadres on ComputerAi­ded Design/computer-aided Manufactur­ing (CAD/CAM) systems and CNC machines, with the objective of promoting knowledge and advanced technology transfer within the Sultanate.

Hinai further highlighte­d that the project presently employs 150 staff, with the total equipment and machine count exceeding 100. Notably, the company possesses over 25% of all CNC machines in the sultanate.

“These factors are expected to empower the local industry and uphold industrial excellence standards at both local and regional levels. This will be achieved through knowledge transfer, enhancing manufactur­ing quality and efficiency, developing workforce skills and technical capabiliti­es, integratin­g advanced technology in production, prioritizi­ng sustainabi­lity, and ensuring customer satisfacti­on by improving market responsive­ness and delivering high-quality products,” he added.
